Large Cap Blend
Our Large Cap Blend strategy returned 13.45% versus the S&P 500 Index return of 12.15% in the fourth quarter. In pursuing this strategy, WCM invests in medium and large public companies which are generating excess free cash flow and whose equity securities are trading at a discount to our estimation of intrinsic value.
• 4-Star Category – The Large Cap Blend strategy was awarded a Top Gun 4-Star Rating, meaning it had an r-squared of 0.80 or greater relative to the style benchmark for the recent five-year period. Moreover, returns must have exceeded the appropriate style benchmark for the three latest three-year rolling periods. The top ten returns for the latest three-year period then become the 4 Star Top Guns.
• 5-Star Category – The Large Cap Blend strategy was awarded a Top Gun 5-Star Rating, meaning that the strategy met all of the requirements for the 4-Star Category and the standard deviation for the five-year period is equal to or less than the median standard deviation for the peer group. The top ten returns for the latest three-year period then become the 5 Star Top Guns.
• 6-Star Category – The Large Cap Blend strategy was awarded a Top Gun 6-Star Rating, meaning that the strategy met all of the requirements for the 5-Star Category. The top ten information ratios for the latest five-year period then become the 6 Star Top Guns.
• Manager of the Decade – The Large Cap Blend strategy was awarded “Manager of the Decade,” meaning it had an r-squared of 0.80 or greater relative to the style benchmark for the latest 10-year period. Moreover, the strategy’s returns were greater than the style benchmark for the latest 10-year period and also standard deviation less than the style benchmark for the latest ten-year period. The top ten performers for the latest 10-year period become the PSN Top Guns Manager of the Decade.
Focused Growth
Our Focused Growth strategy returned 7.95% versus the S&P 500 Index return 12.15% in the fourth quarter. In pursuing this strategy, WCM invests in companies with above average revenue and earnings growth, performance momentum, and a sustainable business model for the future.
• 2-Star Category – Strategy had one of the top ten returns for the one-year period ending December 31, 2020 in its respective universe.
Ultra-Short Fixed Income
Our Ultra-Short Fixed Income strategy returned 0.76% versus the Bloomberg Barclays Short-term Gov/Corp Index return of 0.05% in the fourth quarter. In pursuing this strategy, WCM invests in investment grade corporate bonds, municipal bonds, asset-backed securities, mortgage-backed securities, and high yield bonds.
• 1-Star Category – The Ultra-Short Fixed Income strategy was awarded a Top Gun 1-Star rating, meaning it had one of the top ten returns for the fourth quarter in its respective universe.
• 2-Star Category – Strategy had one of the top ten returns for the one-year period ending December 31, 2020 in its respective universe.
• 3-Star Category – Strategy had one of the top ten returns for the three-year period ending December 31, 2020 in its respective universe.
