Winthrop Awarded for 4Q 2023 Model Portfolio Performance

Quarterly PSN Top Guns List published by Zephyr identifies best-in-class separate accounts, managed accounts, and managed ETF strategies.

Carmel, Indiana – March 1, 2023 – Winthrop Capital Management (WCM) announced today it has been named to the celebrated PSN Top Guns List of best performing Model Portfolios for 4Q 2023. PSN Top Guns ranks strategies which perform well in both up and down markets from over 2,800 firms. PSN’s database is widely used by institutional asset managers and investors, and it is North America’s longest running database of investment managers.

WCM’s Core Aggressive Growth strategy returned 20.42% in the 2023 calendar year. The objective of this strategy is to maximize long-term capital appreciation. This strategy contains a higher percentage of equities and may also feature bonds, mutual funds, exchange traded funds, and alternative investments that meet the goal of high growth.

  • 1, 2, 3, & 4 Star Category – Core Aggressive Growth had one of the top ten returns for the three-month, one-year, and three-year periods ending December 31, 2023 in its respective universe. The strategy had an r-squared of 0.80 or greater relative to the benchmark for the recent five-year period. Returns exceeded the benchmark for the three latest three-year rolling periods.

Core Growth

WCM’s Core Growth strategy returned 18.43% in the 2023 calendar year. Investors in this strategy may be exposed to a significant degree of market volatility while seeking a greater than average return compared to other more conservative strategies.

  • 3 & 4 Star Category – Core Growth had one of the top ten returns for the three-year period ending December 31, 2023 in its respective universe. The strategy had an r-squared of 0.80 or greater relative to the benchmark for the recent five-year period. Returns exceeded the benchmark for the three latest three-year rolling periods.

Core Growth & Income

WCM’s Core Growth & Income strategy returned 15.69% in the 2023 calendar year. This strategy seeks relatively high capital growth with a moderate level of income while also preserving capital over the long term.

  • 5 & 6 Star Category – Core Growth & Income ranked in the top 10 for returns and information ratio for the latest five-year period. This strategy had an r-squared of 0.80 or greater relative to the benchmark for the recent five-year period. Returns exceeded the benchmark for the three latest three-year rolling periods. It had a standard deviation for the five-year period ending December 31, 2023 equal or less than the median standard deviation for the peer group.

Core Sector Aggressive Growth

WCM’s Core Sector Aggressive Growth strategy returned 23.63% in the 2023 calendar year. Investors in this strategy may be exposed to a significant degree of market volatility while seeking a greater than average return.

  • 1, 2, & 3 Star Category – Core Sector Aggressive Growth had one of the top ten returns for the three-month, one-year, and three-year periods ending December 31, 2023 in its respective universe.

Core Sector Growth

WCM’s Core Sector Growth strategy returned 20.47% in the 2023 calendar year. This strategy seeks to maximize long term capital appreciation. This strategy invests in sector ETFs based on our macro-economic view of the economy.

  • 2 & 4 Star Category – Core Sector Growth ranked in the top 10 for performance in the most recent one-year period. The strategy had an r-squared of 0.80 or greater relative to the benchmark for the recent five-year period. Returns exceeded the benchmark for the three latest three-year rolling periods.

WCM’s Core Sector Growth & Income strategy returned 18.32% in the 2023 calendar year. This strategy seeks to achieve relatively high capital growth with a moderate level of income while also preserving capital over the long term.

  • 5 & 6 Star Category – Core Sector Growth & Income ranked in the top 10 for returns and information ratio for the latest five-year period. This strategy had an r-squared of 0.80 or greater relative to the benchmark for the recent five-year period. Returns exceeded the benchmark for the three latest three-year rolling periods. WCM’s Income Series Growth strategy returned 7.54% in the 2023 calendar year. This strategy seeks to maximize long-term capital appreciation. The strategy will likely contain a higher percentage of equities and may be exposed to a significant degree of market volatility while seeking a greater than average return.

  • 3 Star Category – Income Series Growth had one of the top ten returns for the three-year period ending December 31, 2023 in its respective universe.

Tactical Growth

WCM’s Tactical Growth & Income strategy returned 20.57% in the 2023 calendar year. This strategy’s objective is to maximize long term capital appreciation. This strategy will likely contain a higher percentage of equities but will also feature bonds, mutual funds, exchange traded funds, and alternative investments that meet the goal of high growth.
